Sep 16, 2025

Guaranteed service windows: 6:30–9:30 am and 5:00–8:00 pm

SCANDICCI, 15 September 2025 – GEST informs passengers that the Confederazione Unitaria di Base (CUB), Associazione Difesa Lavoratrici e Lavoratori Varese (ADL VARESE), and Sindacato Generale di Base (SGB) have announced a 24-hour general strike scheduled for 22 September 2025. As a result, tram services may experience delays or cancellations.

The strike will affect both operating personnel and other company departments.
Service regularity will depend on the level of participation in the strike.
The participation rate in previous strikes called by CUB was 13%.

Reasons for the strike:

  • In protest against the genocide in Palestine, the supply of weapons to Israel, and the lack of concrete action to dissociate from the horrific crimes committed by the Israeli government.
  • In support of the Global Sumud Flotilla mission and the protection of volunteers delivering aid to the Palestinian people.
  • For sanctions against Israel and the severance of diplomatic and commercial relations with Israel.
  • Against war, the war economy, and the increase in military spending, in addition to the €40 billion already allocated for the current three-year period.
  • For peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and increased investment in healthcare, education, transportation, and welfare, whose deterioration exacerbates inequality and poverty.
  • Against labor exploitation, job insecurity, and the failure to adjust wages for public and private sector workers.
  • For significant increases in wages and pensions, the approval of a minimum wage of no less than €12 per hour, and the reintroduction of an automatic mechanism to adjust wages in line with the cost of living.
  • Against the lack of social policies, starting with the housing emergency and the absence of public housing development plans.
  • For a serious reform of social safety nets.
  • Against the absence of industrial policies capable of addressing ongoing transitions and overcoming the current phase of intense conflict, which is triggering further deindustrialization and exploitation of working-class communities.
  • Against workplace fatalities. For the protection of workers’ health and safety in the workplace.
